Kacey Musgraves, Four Nights on From Her Grammy Triumph: 'This Week Has Been Pretty F***ing Awesome'

Kacey Musgraves is on cloud nine and her spirit remains ethereal as ever. “I feel like I’m in, like, a really fancy cave,” she shared in her first conversation with the crowd during night one of her two-show engagement at Los Angeles’ The Theatre at the Ace Hotel.

Showing a slight crack from the cool and calm collect of her most graceful songs, she encouraged the crowd, “This is a little bit of a later show so I’m gonna kind of need you guys to wake the f*** up.”

Finally, half-sigh, half-yelp, she uttered, “This past week has been pretty f***ing awesome,” giving way to the entire sold-out crowd erupting into proud applause before launching into Grammy-winning single, “Butterflies.” During her 100-minute set, Musgraves touched on every song from 2018’s Golden Hour, the album of the year as of Sunday’s 61st Annual Grammy Awards.

In addition to many accolades from critics and various awards groups throughout 2018, Musgraves won four Grammy Awards, including country prizes for “Butterflies,” “Space Cowboy,” and their parent album, Golden Hour. They follow her 2014 wins for breakout album Same Trailer Different Park and its debut single, “Merry Go ‘Round,” also performed at the Ace to deafening sing-a-long.

While her star continues to rise, it’s clear that the alt-folk-country-pop-etc. star knows where her roots are, genre limits be damned. “This album has made such a giant impact on my life and it really is because of every single person in this room, so thank you so very much!”
