Whether it's a piece of crap or brand new, your first car is special. It gives you a first taste of independence as a teen, and allows for countless memories to be made (and sometimes, trouble to be had). Mitchell Tenpenny loved his first car so much, he wrote a song about it.
The rising country star paid homage to his first set of wheels with "Truck I Drove in High School," a twangy nostalgic jam that feels as fun as driving on the open road. As Tenpenny celebrates the release of his debut album, Telling All My Secrets, today (Dec. 14), the singer-songwriter unveils an acoustic rendition of his truck tribute.
"'Truck I Drove in High School' is about that first truck or car you get when you’re a kid," Tenpenny shares. "You can finally get away from mom and dad to go hang out with your friends and get in a little trouble. I wanted to write a song that captured the first time you felt that sense of freedom.”
