Takeover Tuesday Playlist: Jordan Davis' Favorites That 'Never Get Old,' Including John Mayer & The Eagles

Welcome back to Takeover Tuesday, where each week, Billboard taps chart-topping artists and tastemakers to compile their very own playlist exclusive to Billboard's Spotify account. We give the artists free rein to base the list on whatever subject they choose. The only rule? Make it as creative and unique to them as possible.

With the new year fast approaching, Jordan Davis must be exhausted. Following the release of his debut album Home State in March, the rising country star hit No.1 on the Country Airplay chart with his massively successful breakout hit “Singles You Up." With his flirty second single "Take It From Me" sitting at No. 16 on the tally (dated Dec. 8), Davis is showing that his success has only just begun -- and his achievements this year just earned him the title of Billboard’s Top New Country Artist of 2018.

Before Davis -- who is fresh off of tour with Kip Moore -- hits the road again with Old Dominion on Jan. 18, he shared his ultimate playlist of favorite songs with Billboard, including 2018 releases and spanning all the way back to 1972. From country legends like Eric Church and Brad Paisley, to pop music’s lyrical masters John Mayer and Ed Sheeran, this playlist makes it easy to see where Davis’s unique mesh of the two genres comes from. His own music fuses together classic country lyrics with pop-influenced melodies that give them their infectious appeal.

“These are some of my new favorites and a few that I have been listening to for years,” Davis tells Billboard. “This playlist never gets old to me.”
