Fairground Saints Serve Up a Harmonious 'Silent Night': Video Premiere

It may still be a week before Thanksgiving, but the members of Fairground Saints already have the Christmas spirit.

Today (Nov. 19), the country trio released their harmony-filled version of “Silent Night” to all digital service providers and Billboard is premiering the video for the seasonal classic.

With so many holiday songs to choose from, the band picked “Silent Night” because “it’s a timeless song that for us [that] really sums up all the best feelings of Christmas. It was an easy choice,” says Mason Van Valin, who is joined in the group by Elijah Edwards and Meg McAllister.

The gorgeous arrangement sounds like a cross between the waltz of Little Big Town’s “Girl Crush” and the traditional version of the standard. “The arrangement is the product of a lot of trial and error, and a healthy helping of Eli’s composition style,” Van Valin continues. “We were sitting down working out the harmonies for the song as well as the guitar parts and we couldn’t argue with where our instincts were wanting to take us. the classic nature of the guitar part seemed undeniably appropriate, so we chased down that arrangement.”

Fairground Saints, who have a global developing deal with Sony Music Nashville and Sony’s distribution and digital marketing arm The Orchard, head out with Sara Evans for two weeks of dates starting Nov. 29 in Carmel, Ind. An EP will come in Spring 2019 with a full album to follow, as well as more tour dates.
