Carrie Underwood's Today Summer Concert Series performance slated for Friday has been canceled, the show's official Twitter account announced Thursday afternoon (Sept. 13).

"Due to NBC News' ongoing coverage of Hurricane Florence, the concert with Carrie Underwood originally scheduled for tomorrow, September 14, on the TODAY plaza has been canceled," the tweet reads.

Underwood was scheduled to promote the release of her new album Cry Pretty, arriving Friday.

Though Underwood's performance was canceled due to coverage of Hurricane Florence and not due to the actual storm itself, there have been several concerts called off for safety reasons. Jason Aldean's Thursday concert in Cincinnati was canceled due to flooding, and the inaugural Dreamville festival in North Carolina, hosted by J. Cole, has been postponed.
