Kenny Chesney Performs Foot-Stomping 'Get Along,' on 'Tonight Show': Watch
Kenny Chesney hit The Tonight Show stage on Tuesday night (July 31) for a rousing performance of his latest single, "Get Along," from his newly released album, Songs for the Saints.
Dressed in his signature 10-gallon cowboy hat, the country legend stood in front of the soft low lights on the stage and performed his foot-stomping plea, which is inspired by the amount of altruism following the devastation of Hurricane Irma. "Drink a beer, sing a song/ Make a friend, can't we all get along?" Chesney sang during the track's chorus.
Sitting on the couch, Chesney told host Jimmy Fallon about the time that he "auditioned" for the New Orleans Saints and caught a punt. According to the "American Kids," singer, Saints' coach Sean Payton invited him out for a faux try-out and ended the practice with a proposal for Chesney: Catch a punt or the team had to practice the following day.
"It was a very [anxious] moment for me," said Chesney. "So I had Reggie Bush and Drew Brees and everyone coming up to me and going 'You better catch this ball.' So I bobbled it and caught it." Chesney's 17th album, Songs for The Saints, came out on July 27. All proceeds from the release go toward Hurricane Irma disaster relief funds.
