Little Big Town Admits Making Taylor Swift's 'Better Man' Their Own Was 'Quite the Challenge': Watch

Last night (Nov. 8) at the CMAs Little Big Town won big. The band -- who won vocal group of the year for the sixth year in a row -- took the time to discuss their song of the year “Better Man,” written by none other than Taylor Swift.

Little Big Town had nothing but kind words for Swift, who actually sent them “Better Man” as a “no pressure” listener to them via e-mail, as the band's Karen Fairchild explained to Billboard. Fairchild said Swift's honesty in songwriting is what makes her so great: “She has an honesty about her and she’s clearly moved by things that are going on in her heart and in her life.”

Obviously, taking on a Swift track isn’t an easy feat. As Fairchild elaborated, “It was quite the challenge because anything that she sings sounds like a hit song. So then you have to take it and really go, ‘Can we embody that and make it our own?’"

Swift couldn't be in attendance as Little Big Town accepted the song of the year award for "Better Man" on her behalf (she's currently in New York City rehearsing for her Saturday Night Live appearance), but the "Gorgeous" singer made sure to give them a shout-out from NYC.
