Amazon Music Reveals Alexa's Most-Requested Country Lyrics, Announces New Chart & Playlist

Louis Browne
Luke Combs

One of the basic tenets of country music is storybook lyricism and on Wednesday (Nov. 8), Amazon Music released its Top 25 Country Lyrics Chart to show the genre’s most requested lyrics of 2017 via Alexa.

Luke Combs nabs the top spot with his hit single “Hurricane.” Accompanying him are Martina McBride’s “This One’s for the Girls,” Jason Aldean’s “Dirt Road Anthem” and Taylor Swift’s “Picture to Burn,” among others.

It’s no surprise to see several modern country stars occupy the list, but several legacy artists notched entries on it as well, such as David Allen Coe (“You Never Even Called Me by My Name”) and, of course, Johnny Cash (“Ring of Fire,” “Folsom Prison Blues”).

In some instances, fans decided they could come up with names better than the official song titles. Zac Brown Band’s “Chicken Fried” got rechristened “cold beer on a Friday night,” and Sam Hunt’s “Body Like a Back Road” turned into “driving with my eyes closed.”

Amazon Music has also turned the Top 25 Country Lyrics Chart into a playlist called “Top 25 Lyric Requests: Country.” Listen to the playlist below.
