Smithfield Wants to Help You Make Memories With Their Music & More You Should Know

"We always try to write from a place that's real."

Country duo Smithfield go way back, meeting back when Trey Smith was 12 and Jennifer Fiedler was 10, but they didn't officially start writing songs until about six years ago. The first of these songs was called "You Go First."

In Billboard's "You Should Know" series, Smith and Fielder reveal some fun facts about their band, including what they think is the best word to describe their music: "memories."

"We always try to write from a place that's real," Smith explains. "We just try to get these snapshots of experiences that everybody goes through and when you hear that it creates a memory or emotion and I think that's what we do in our music."
