Watch Michael Tyler Perform 'They Can't See' & Talk Writing Dierks Bentley's 'Somewhere on a Beach'
Michael Tyler is still pretty fresh on the country scene, but you've definitely heard one of his songs before. That's because the Missouri native singer-songwriter had a hand in writing one of Dierks Bentley's biggest hits to date, "Somewhere on a Beach," which topped both the Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts in 2016.
Although he handed off his first smash hit to a country superstar, Tyler could be well on his way to being one himself. His latest single, "They Can't See," is working its way up at country radio, currently sitting at No. 53 on the Country Airplay chart -- which is also helping draw attention to his debut album, 317, which he released on March 17.
As he continues to rise to fame, Tyler's songwriting abilities are being honored with a breakthrough songwriter of the year nomination at this year's SESAC MusicRow Awards, which are taking place in Nashville on Wednesday night. Tyler is no stranger to that ceremony, though, as he and his "Somewhere on a Beach" co-writer Jaron Boyer took home the award for song of the year at last year's MusicRow Awards.
While Billboard was in Nashville for this year's CMA Fest, we had a chance to sit down with Tyler to chat about his single and the story behind "Somewhere on a Beach," also getting an intimate performance of "They Can't See." Check out both videos below:
