Watch Chris Stapleton's New 'Fire Away' Video, A Chilling Ode to Mental Health Awareness
Chris Stapleton’s Traveller was one of 2015’s most lauded albums, and for good reason. The gripping emotion of real life struggle that characterizes Stapleton’s work is captured poignantly in the brand new music video for the weathered, slow burning “Fire Away.”
The video depicts a relationship gone sour through fighting and drinking, before it climaxes with a pair of suicide attempts -- the second far direr. Its mission, aside from representing the song, is to promote mental health awareness through the Campaign to Change Direction.
The initiative was introduced to Stapleton through actor Ben Foster, who stars in the video alongside Margarita Levieva. Watch the Tim Mattia-directed product above and keep an eye out for a cameo from Stapleton himself.
Traveller was released back in May, but didn’t hit its commercial peak until later in the year. After a surprise album of the year win at the 2015 Country Music Association Awards, it went on to become the first album ever to re-enter the Billboard 200 at No. 1.
