Blake Shelton Expects Miranda Lambert Jokes at CMAs: 'This Year's Gonna Be Awkward'

The CMAs are happening next week (Nov. 4) -- and Blake Shelton, for one, is ready for a little ribbing from hosts Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley.

"This year is going to be awkward at the CMAs, speaking of jokes,” Shelton told Seth Meyers during his appearance on Late Night Tuesday (Oct. 27). “[Country music] is such a family. Everybody there is friends, you know? There’s gotta be a joke about me and Miranda [Lambert]."

Shelton and Lambert's very public divorce has been tabloid fodder since it was announced back in July -- still, Shelton seems to have a sense of humor about it. "[Co-host] Brad Paisley is not doing his job if he doesn’t look down there and go, ‘Haha!’ I mean, he’s gotta do it. You have to address the elephant in the room." Apparently, the jokes have even been planned out. "We’ve had the conversations, like, ‘Okay, dude, I will go sit there and let you kick me in the face a few times,'" Shelton said. "I know it’s coming."
