The production-heavy project RAC made their Coachella debut as a full-on live band Sunday, with guest sit-ins from Capital Cities trumpet player Spencer Ludwig and Penguin Prison, the nom-de-pop of producer/singer Chris Glover. Backstage in the artist area after the show, Glover and RAC's main man, Andre Alan Anjos, hung in their trailer with their respective managers, Paula Quijano, VP Artist Development, Little Empire Music, and Julie Kim of Darkside Management, and discussed a bit about how their collaboration came together.

"Usually it's between the artists and their personal relationships," Kim said. "Once they create the song, management comes in and does the dirty work. In a way, it's more creative that way than having management push artists together."

Penguin Prison and RAC have collaborated on three tracks -- two remixes and the original RAC song "Hollywood," which they performed together at Coachella -- but the duo told Billboard there's more in the works. "I went to his house in Portland, and we did two songs [for my upcoming album, due in May], in two days," Glover said. "It was the quickest working relationship I've ever had."

RAC's also got new music on the horizon: They played the upcoming single "Back to the Car" at Coachella, though Anjos wasn't sure of the choice until the last minute. "I wasn't sure I was going to play it or not," he said. "But the reaction was great. [I thought] 'We're on the right track here!'"

From Quijano's standpoint, Coachella's the perfect place to get an artist like Glover some visibility, while allowing him to have a little fun as well. "[In addition to the guest spot] he did a DJ set at a pool party yesterday, which was more mellow than Splash House [where he played] last year. They wanted him to play the last set, which is not the best, because everyone's on their way to the festival at 4 or 5!"
