Skrillex, Pretty Lights, Kygo to Headline 2015 Shambhala Festival

The annual electronic fest in British Columbia will feature more than 300 artists from August 7-10.

Have you experienced Shambhalove? It's the essence of the annual Shambhala Music Festival, which takes place every August in Canada's Salmo River Valley and practices the "religion of kindness." That may sound like a load of new age nonsense to the uninitiated, but for 18 years, the mountain gathering has drawn loyal fans to a 500-acre farm in British Columbia for a weekend of cutting-edge electronic music.

This year's bill is a doozy. Along with headliners Skrillex, Pretty Lights and Kygo, the festival will feature more than 300 DJs including Big Gigantic, Claude Vonstroke, MK, Bonobo, and TJKTK. It takes place from August 7-10.

At a time when highly produced EDM mega-fests are fairly common, Shambhala, in its own way, stands out. The event doesn't accept any corporate sponsorship, which organizers say helps them stay true to their fans as electronic music moves into the mainstream and large production budgets threaten to "water down" the culture.

Last year's event drew more than 11,000 attendees for acts like Moby and Beats Antique.
