Due in early 2015, the album features Boy George, Toots & the Maytals, Kool A.D., Sly & Robbie, and more.

Billboard is excited to announce a hyper-collaborative new project featuring more than 80 collaborations from over four continents.

Mad Decent's Toy Selectah has combined forces with Camilo Lara (DJ Mexican Institute of Sound) to create Compass, a new album the duo spent last year recording in secret while jet-setting around the globe.

“This album is like our PhD thesis on global music production,” Toy Selectah says. Indeed, the pair was yearning for a challenge, and in Compass, consider that mission accomplished. Selectah and Mexican Institute of Sound wanted to collaborate with artists they admired outside of the DJ realm, so they sought out collaborators representing electronic, reggae, hip-hop, indie, punk, and more.

"This project has been a mystical quest trying to prove that there is only one dance floor across the globe,” Lara says.

Compass is due in early 2015. To get a taste of the magic in store, check out the trailer below:

There’s more video on the way -- Red Bull Media House produced a five-episode web series chronicling the album’s creation, which fans can expect around Compass’ release.

Toy and Camilo recorded the album at Red Bull Studios locations in New York, Los Angeles, London, and São Paulo, in addition to recording stops in Kingston (Jamaica), Tokyo, Beijing, New Delhi, and Mexico’s Monterrey and Mexico City.

Over the course of his career, Lara released four albums as the founder of Mexican Institute of Sound, curated a radio station for Grand Theft Auto, and collaborated with artists ranging from the Beastie Boys to Morrissey.

Toy Selectah, too, is a trendsetter in Latin music, having been aligned with Mad Decent since its inception and now working as a producer for the imprint.
