Musically, Anjunabeats producer Andrew Bayer has worked up an electro-acoustic pastiche of samples and beats that act as a successor to both early ‘00s microsamplers and late ‘90s electronica. Visually, he’s done practically the same. “Lose Sight,” pulled from Bayer’s forthcoming sophomore album, "If It Were You, We’d Never Leave," is lush and glitchy at the same time. And while Ane Brun is the featured vocalist, her voice becomes a part of the sample system.
If you were expecting a belt, a wail or a croon, you might be disappointed. Directed by Polish artist Cz?owiek Kamera (known for his work with Sigur Ros and Fever Ray), the video is an ode to late winter – or perhaps Scandinavian spring. It’s as atmospheric as the track itself but also blessed with a number of well-deployed visual effects.
