The band notches its 14th leader, second only to Three Days Grace's 15.

Shinedown summits Billboard's Mainstream Rock Songs airplay chart for a 14th time, drawing one nearer to the record for the most No. 1s in the survey's history.

"Monsters" rises 2-1 on the June 29-dated list, as the four-piece breaks a tie with Van Halen for the second-most leaders on Mainstream Rock Songs, which began in 1981.

The only act with more Mainstream Rock Songs No. 1s: Three Days Grace, with 15. The act added its latest leader in April when "Right Left Wrong" began a three-week rule.

"Monsters" is Shinedown's fourth consecutive No. 1, after "Get Up," "Devil" and "How Did You Love," with the former two, like "Monsters," coming from the group's album Attention Attention. The band also strung together four straight leaders in 2010-12 (and three in 2008-09).

On the all-rock-format Rock Airplay tally (which originated in 2009), "Monsters" is Shinedown's chart-leading 12th top 10. The song lifts 10-8 with 5.3 million audience impressions, according to Nielsen Music.
