Polo G & Lil Tjay's 'Pop Out' Hits Top 10 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Chart
Polo G earns his first top 10 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart as “Pop Out,” featuring Lil Tjay, ascends 11-9 on the list dated June 15.
“Pop” hops largely due to its strong showing in the streaming sector. It climbs 8% in weekly U.S. streams to 25.9 million in the week ending June 6, according to Nielsen Music, which pushes the collaboration 7-6 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs chart and 9-7 on the all-genre Streaming Songs list. The song’s streaming growth also nabs it the week’s Greatest Gainer honor on both surveys.
In addition, “Pop” reaches a new peak on R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales as it moves 18-17 with a 2% rise to 3000 downloads logged in the week ending June 6.
“Pop” radio airplay maintains its steady ascent through a 35-32 lift in the song’s sixth week on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart. The track improves to 4.8 million in audience in the week ending June 9, up 13% from the prior period.
Other key radio gains include a 37-35 bump on the Rhythmic Songs airplay list, thanks to a 17% boost in plays in the week ending June 9, and a 25-23 advance on Rap Airplay, fueled by a 14% rally in weekly spins.
Elsewhere, “Pop” climbs on both the Hot Rap Songs chart (9-8) and the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 (27-22). With its move into the top 25 on the latter, Polo G, born Taurus Bartlett, graduates from Billboard’s Emerging Artists chart, as the tally excludes performers who have notched a top 25 Hot 100 hit as a lead artist. Polo G broke into the top 10 club just in time for his final frame on the Emerging Artists ranking, moving 13-9 on the chart dated June 8.
Lil Tjay, whose real name is Tione Merritt, steps 16-13 to a new personal best showing in his seven weeks on the survey. The 18-year-old Bronx native is also riding a second hit through a featured turn on French Montana’s “Slide.” That track, which also sports a guest verse from Blueface, shows growth on Rap Airplay (20-19, up 9% in plays) and Rhythmic Songs (23-22, up 8% in plays) and returns to the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart through a 29% surge to 3.9 million in audience.
