Quando Rondo, Charly Bliss & Jamila Woods Debut on Emerging Artists Chart
Plus, City Girls rule for a seventh week.
Savannah, Georgia-based rapper Quando Rondo debuts at No. 39 on Billboard's Emerging Artists chart (dated May 25), as his third mixtape, From the Neighborhood to the Stage, arrives at a career-best No. 29 on the Billboard 200 with 17,000 equivalent album units, according to Nielsen Music. His sophomore LP, Life After Fame, reached No. 138 last October.
Rondo (real name: Tyquian Bowman), whose moniker is derived from NBA point guard Rajon Rondo, previously sent one song onto Billboard's charts: Youngboy Never Broke Again's "I Am Who They Say I Am," featuring Rondo and Kevin Gates, reached No. 24 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and No. 69 on the Billboard Hot 100 last September.
Meanwhile, Neighborhood track "Imperfect Flower" is growing, drawing 6.4 million U.S. streams in the tracking week.
The Emerging Artists chart ranks the most popular developing artists of the week, using the same formula as the all-encompassing Billboard Artist 100, which measures artist activity across multiple Billboard charts, including the Hot 100, Billboard 200 and the Social 50. (The Artist 100 lists the most popular acts, overall, each week.) However, the Emerging Artists chart excludes acts that have notched a top 25 entry on either the Hot 100 or Billboard 200, as well as artists that have achieved two or more top 10s on Billboard's "Hot" song genre charts and/or consumption-based "Top" album genre rankings.
City Girls log their seventh week at No. 1 on Emerging Artists, as their single "Act Up" ranks at No. 33 on the Hot 100 and lifts 47-42 on Radio Songs (26.4 million in airplay audience, up 11%).
Charly Bliss makes its Billboard chart debut, as the Brooklyn-based power-pop group opens at No. 44 on Emerging Artists and its second full-length Young Enough starts at No. 4 on Heatseekers Albums (1,000 copies sold).
Plus, neo-soul singer Jamila Woods makes her chart entrance, arriving at No. 48 on Emerging Artists as her second set Legacy! Legacy! debuts at No. 3 on R&B Album Sales and No. 6 on Heatseekers Albums (1,000 sold).
