Khalid Hits No. 1 on Billboard Artist 100 Chart for First Time
Plus, Lil Nas X vaults 20-3 & Sara Bareilles re-enters at a new peak.
Khalid leaps from No. 5 to No. 1 on the Billboard Artist 100 chart (dated April 20) to become the top musical act in the U.S. for the first time, as his new LP Free Spirit debuts as his first No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 202,000 equivalent album units, according to Nielsen Music.
The Artist 100 measures artist activity across key metrics of music consumption, blending album and track sales, radio airplay, streaming and social media fan interaction to provide a weekly multi-dimensional ranking of artist popularity.
Khalid's reign is also powered by his nine entries on the Billboard Hot 100, led by "Better," which surges 16-8 to become his fourth top 10 and first as a sole lead.
Rounding out the Artist 100's top five, Billie Eilish dips to No. 2 after a week at the summit; Lil Nas X vaults 20-3 as his first Hot 100 No. 1, "Old Town Road," logs a second week on top with record-breaking streams; Ariana Grande dips 2-4; and Post Malone drops 3-5.
Plus, Sara Bareilles re-enters the Artist 100 at No. 12, a new peak, as she scores her sixth top 10 on the Billboard 200 as Amidst the Chaos launches at No. 6 (35,000 units).
