With Girl, Morris notches the largest debut-week streaming sum for a country album by a female artist: 23.96 million on-demand audio streams earned for its songs in its premiere frame. She surpasses the previous best debut-week total for a country set by a woman, as Underwood's Cry Pretty generated 14.44 million on-demand audio streams for it songs (Sept. 29, 2018).
"I am blown away by the support this last week," Morris tells Billboard. "My fans were already screaming the lyrics at the show the day after the album came out. I am so shocked and thankful to have broken this record for country music."
Girl also logs the largest streaming week for a studio country album by a woman, and the largest opening streaming week for any country album in 2019.
For the 28-year-old Morris, from Arlington, Texas, Girl is her second full-length to open at the Top Country Albums summit.
