Vampire Weekend Earns First No. 1 On a Billboard Airplay Chart With 'Harmony Hall'

The longest wait overall? As a featured artist, it's Mavis Staples, who went 16 years and seven months between her first Adult Alternative Songs appearance featured on Natalie Merchant's "Build a Levee," in 2002 to her 2018 No. 1 featured on Hozier's "Nina Cried Power."

Prior to "Harmony Hall," Vampire Weekend had made the top 10 of Adult Alternative Songs once, with "Unbelievers," which peaked at No. 6 in October 2013.

The band is the second act to score a first Adult Alternative Songs leader in 2019, following Maggie Rogers, whose "Light On" ruled for three weeks beginning in January.

Concurrently, "Harmony Hall" reaches a new peak on Alternative Songs, rising 19-18. On the all-rock-format Rock Airplay chart, the song hits a new weekly best of 4.9 million impressions, according to Nielsen Music, as it holds at its No. 12 high.

Father of the Bride, Vampire Weekend's first full-length album in six years and first with Columbia, is due this year, though an official release date has not yet been announced.
