Ariana Grande's 'Thank U, Next' Album Headed for No. 1 Debut on Billboard 200 Chart

Grande appears set for her fourth leader on the list, and second chart-topper since September.

Ariana Grande is aiming for a No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200 chart with her latest studio album, Thank U, Next, according to industry prognosticators.

Early forecasts suggest that the set, released Friday (Feb. 8) on Republic Records, could start with between 280,000 and 300,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending Feb. 23, of which 90,000 to 100,000 should be in album sales.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The top 10 of the Feb. 23-dated Billboard 200 chart -- where Next is likely to launch at No. 1 -- is scheduled to be revealed on Billboard's websites on Sunday, Feb. 17.

The bow will likely set the one-week streaming record for an album by a woman, beating Cardi B's Invasion of Privacy. That premiered at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 dated April 21, 2018, with 255,000 equivalent album units overall, with 135,000 of that total in SEA units, translating to 202.6 million streams of the tracks on the album during its debut frame.

Grande is in line to earn her fourth Billboard 200 No. 1 total and second in less than six months, after Sweetener started atop the Sept. 1-dated tally. She previously reigned with My Everything in 2014 and her debut album, Yours Truly, in 2013.

Next has so far produced two No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, Grande's first leaders on the survey, both of which debuted on top: the title track (for seven weeks beginning in November) and "7 Rings" (which has led for its first two weeks). The video for the new LP's latest single, "Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I'm Bored," arrived Friday (Feb. 8), concurrent with the album's release, and should soar onto next week's Hot 100 (dated Feb. 23) after its first full week of tracking.

Ahead of Grande's expected entrance, the newest Billboard 200, dated Feb. 16, finds A Boogie Wit da Hoodie's Hoodie SZN back at No. 1, as announced earlier today (Feb. 10).
