It's the band's second leader from its album of the same name.

Godsmack grabs its second No. 1 this year on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Songs airplay chart, as "When Legends Rise" zooms 4-1 on the Dec. 15-dated tally.

The song is Godsmack's ninth leader on the chart, which began in 1981, and second from its 2018 album of the same name. Previously, "Bulletproof," the No. 1 title on the year-end Mainstream Rock Songs list for 2018, ruled for five weeks beginning in May.

Godsmack's run of No. 1s dates to 2001, when "Awake" led for a week that February. Until 2018, the band had never notched multiple No. 1s in the same year (though it had, however, scored more than one No. 1 on a single album).

Concurrently, "Rise" lifts 16-13 on the all-rock-format Rock Airplay chart, earning 4.7 million audience impressions, up 10 percent, according to Nielsen Music.

When Legends Rise, Godsmack's seventh studio album, was released in April and became the band's third leader on Top Rock Albums, ruling the May 12-dated tally with 40,000 equivalent album units earned in its first week.
