Joji performs onstage during the 88 Rising Head in the Clouds Festival at Los Angeles State Historic Park on Sept. 22, 2018 in Los Angeles.

Joji earns his first No. 1 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart as his Ballads 1 album opens atop the list dated Nov. 10. The set, the singer-songwriter’s first full-length album, earned 57,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Nov. 1, according to Nielsen Music.

Ballads, released through 88Rising/12Tone, likewise starts at No. 1 on the Top R&B Albums chart and, as previously reported, begins at No. 3 on the all-genre Billboard 200. (The Nov. 10-dated charts, which will reflect Ballads 1's debut, will publish on Billboard's website on Tuesday, Nov. 6.)

Joji, who first came to prominence as a YouTube personality, claims his second appearance on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums with Ballads. He previously reached No. 28 with his In Tongues EP in November 2017.

Ballads contains the popular single “Slow Dancing in the Dark,” which hit No. 8 on the Hot R&B Songs chart in September. The track has earned 45.1 million on-demand streams in the U.S. since its Sept. 12 release, according to Nielsen Music.
