Billboard Argentina Hot 100 Premieres with Becky G and Paulo Londra at No. 1
'Cuando Te Besé' takes the inaugural top spot on the Argentina’s first official songs chart.
Paulo Londra is the local act with the most songs on the newly-launched Argentina Hot 100 with three titles, including "Cuando Te Besé" with Becky G, which ranks at No. 1 on the inaugural list. “Te Amo,” with Piso 21, arrives at No. 31, while “Nena Maldición” and “Dímelo” open at No. 82 and No. 84, respectively on the chart dated Oct. 13.
The Argentina Hot 100 ranks the most popular songs in the country and is compiled by utilizing a formula blending local streaming activity on leading music services such as YouTube, Spotify and Apple Music, among others, as well as national radio airplay and plays of songs featured on a variety of Argentine TV networks. Streaming data is provided by Nielsen Music, while radio and TV measurement is powered by BMAT/Vericast.
Argentinian trap artist Ecko also scores four tracks on the chart with “Árabe” featuring Papichamp, at No. 45, “Me Usaste,” featuring Noriel, at No. 50, “Bye” (No.76) and “Piso,” with Bhavi, (No. 98).
Tini and Cazzu place three songs on the chart and Damas Gratis scores with a pair of songs, both in the top 10. The list spotlights Argentine’s preference for Spanish-language music, highlighted by five songs each from J Balvin, Maluma and Sebastián Yatra.
Argentines’ rock music is well represented among the multitude of genres on the chart, with tracks from Babasónicos at No. 65, La Beriso (No. 69), and Guasones (No. 96). International hitmakers also make an impact; global superstars can be found throughout the Argentina Hot 100, including Calvin Harris (No. 35), BTS (Nos. 48 & 66), Maroon 5 (No. 53), Drake (No. 66) and Ariana Grande (No. 79).
“It´s a great tool for the industry,” says Damián Amato CEO of Sony Entertainment Argentina, Chile and Uruguay. “The whole Argentinian music family will support the chart evolution," adds Guillermo Castellani, CEO of Warner Music South America and CAPIF's (The Argentine Chamber of Phonograms and Videograms Producers).
“This is great for the artists we book and that perform every year in our country like J Balvin or Maluma. It's also very good news for Argentinian artists to be recognized in the rest of South America," shares Federico Lauria, owner of Lauria Dale Play concerts production company.
The Billboard Argentina Hot 100 will appear in each monthly print issue and will refreshed weekly each Tuesday.
