Carrie Underwood Reacts to 'Cry Pretty' Debuting at No. 1 on Billboard 200 Chart

Carrie Underwood is sitting “pretty” at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, as her latest studio effort, Cry Pretty, arrives atop the list. In doing so, she makes country history atop the tally, as she becomes the only woman to take four country albums to No. 1 on the all-genre albums chart.

“This album is so special to me for so many reasons and I couldn’t be more proud that people have embraced it the way they have,” Underwood tells Billboard

“I feel so blessed to be able to do what I do, and I am incredibly grateful for the support of fans around the world that make it all possible.”

Cry Pretty starts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 (dated Sept. 29) with 266,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending Sept. 20, according to Nielsen Music. That’s the biggest week of 2018 for any album by a woman, and the largest for a country set in more than three years.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units. Units are comprised of traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The new Sept. 29-dated chart will be posted in full on Billboard's websites on Tuesday, Sept. 25.
