Marshmello & Bastille Reign on Two Dance/Electronic Charts With 'Happier'
Jonas Blue tops Dance Club Songs, plus moves for Calvin Harris & Sam Smith, Khalid & Normani and JAUZ.
Marshmello and Bastille bolt to No. 1 on two Billboard charts, bumping 2-1 on Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs and returning to the summit (6-1) on Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales (each dated September 15) with "Happier." The collaboration earned 10.5 million U.S. streams (up 21 percent) and sold 7,000 downloads (up 38 percent) in the week ending Sept. 6, according to Nielsen Music.
The track (which debuted atop Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales two weeks earlier) is Marshmello's third No. 1 and Bastille's first on each list. "Happier" is the top gainer in all metrics on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs (4-2) and surges by 49 percent to 17 million in all-format airplay audience.
Shifting to Dance Club Songs, UK DJ/producer Jonas Blue jumps to his fourth leader with "Rise," featuring Jack & Jack, which scores its first. The track was remixed by Eden Prince, Retrovision and TV Noise, among others.
On Dance/Mix Show Airplay, Calvin Harris and Sam Smith soar 16-6 with "Promises." The fourth top 10 for Smith, "Promises" is Harris' 17th, the third-most among all acts since the chart's August 2003 inception (after David Guetta and Rihanna's 24 each). Also on Dance/Mix Show Airplay, Khalid and Normani lift 11-10 with "Love Lies," Khalid's third top 10 and Normani's first.
Finally, Los Angeles-based producer JAUZ (aka Sam Vogel) bows at No. 12 on Top Dance/Electronic Albums with his debut album, The Wise and the Wicked (2,000 equivalent album units earned).
