With Confidence Debuts at No. 5 On Emerging Artists Chart, Lauv Holds at No. 1
Plus, Gabbie Hanna re-enters in the top 10 & ERRA debuts.
Sydney, Australia-based pop-punk trio With Confidence debuts at No. 5 on Billboard's Emerging Artists chart (dated Aug. 25), as its sophomore LP Love and Loathing earns the group its first charting title, opening at No. 8 on the Alternative Albums chart with 8,000 equivalent album units, according to Nielsen Music.
With 7,000 copies sold, the set also starts at No. 14 on the all-genre Top Album Sales chart. The LP concurrently opens at No. 14 on Top Rock Albums and No. 4 on Vinyl Albums.
The Emerging Artists chart ranks the most popular developing artists of the week, using the same formula as the all-encompassing Billboard Artist 100, which measures artist activity across multiple Billboard charts, including the Billboard Hot 100, Billboard 200 and the Social 50. (The Artist 100 lists the most popular acts, overall, each week.) However, the Emerging Artists chart excludes acts that have notched a top 25 entry on either the Hot 100 or Billboard 200, as well as artists that have achieved two or more top 10s on Billboard's "Hot" song genre charts and/or consumption-based "Top" album genre rankings.
The band, made up of Joshua Brozzesi, Inigo Del Carmen and Jayden Seeley, released Love and Loathing through Hopeless Records on Aug. 10.
Atop Emerging Artists, Lauv logs his eighth total week at No. 1, as the pop singer-songwriter's breakthrough single "I Like Me Better" stands at No. 39 on the Hot 100 (up from No. 49, after peaking at No. 29).
Rounding out the chart's top five, Billie Eilish jumps 5-2, Lovelytheband rises 4-3 and Queen Naija dips 3-4.
Elsewhere on Emerging Artists, Gabbie Hanna re-enters at a new No. 8 peak, as her new single "Honestly" opens at No. 10 on the Digital Song Sales chart with 16,000 downloads sold. Hanna first developed her audience on Vine and now boasts 6.2 million followers on YouTube.
Plus, Birmingham, Ala., metalcore band ERRA debuts at No. 9 on Emerging Artists, as its fourth LP, Neon, arrives at No. 1 on Heatseekers Albums and No. 8 on Hard Rock Albums (6,000 units).
