Kenny Chesney performs during the Trip Around the Sun Tour at Chase Field on June 23, 2018 in Phoenix, Ariz.

Kenny Chesney ranks among the highest-grossing touring artists on Billboard’s weekly tally of Hot Tours (see below) based on the most recent box-office counts reported from his Trip Around the Sun tour. He is just over halfway through his 18-week summer run, which continues through late August. With 21 shows already in the books, box-office sales on the North American jaunt have hit $53 million from 628,306 sold seats.

Six concerts reported during the past week by promoter Messina Touring Group include shows that occurred from June 14 through 23. During that span, the country star played four amphitheaters and two stadiums. His top grosser was an event at Chase Field in Phoenix, the city’s Major League Baseball stadium. He logged a gross of $3.2 million at the ballpark from 48,424 sold seats on June 23. Playing the venue as a headliner for the second time, he surpassed the sold-ticket count from his Spread the Love Tour two years ago by 502 seats.

Chesney’s June 18 concert at Mapfre Stadium in Columbus, Ohio, marked his fifth stint at the city’s Major League Soccer venue since 2006. With 26,455 fans in attendance the show raked in $3.1 million, making it his highest box-office gross ever at the stadium. He grossed over $913,000 more than during his No Shoes Nation trek in 2013.

Among the four amphitheaters included in this tally, his June 15 performance at Jiffy Lube Live was the only one to top $1 million in sales. Located in the Washington, D.C., suburb of Bristow, Va., the show drew 20,792 fans. Both the Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater in Virginia Beach, Va. (June 14) and Mattress Firm Amphitheatre in the San Diego market (June 21) logged sales in the upper $800,000 range. Finally, fans from the San Francisco Bay Area generated just under $750,000 in revenue for a June 20 performance at Shoreline Amphitheatre in the city of Mountain View.

Chesney will remain on the road through August. He will wrap the Trip Around the Sun tour with his traditional appearance at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. This year’s final shows -- his 18th and 19th at the venue -- will be on Aug. 24 and 25.
