Khalid performs during The Roxy Tour at Infinite Energy Arena on May 22, 2018 in Duluth, Ga.

Khalid earns a slot on the most recent tally of top-grossing Hot Tours (see below) based on $8.7 million in ticket sales from his Roxy tour that launched early this year in New York City.

The 20-year-old R&B artist kicked off his North American trek with an engagement at Radio City Music Hall on Jan. 27. With a sellout crowd of 5,960 in attendance, the event marked his headlining debut at the famed Manhattan performance venue.

Three months later on May 1 he began the bulk of his tour -- a five-week run of shows through 18 U.S. and Canadian cities. With a string of dates booked primarily in arenas and outdoor amphitheaters, the first of these shows came in Portland at the Moda Center with 7,974 fans in the house. He continued the run through June 7, playing his final date of the late-spring jaunt at Red Hat Amphitheater in Raleigh, N.C.

He performed 23 concerts during the run with the total number of sold seats hitting 158,727. His highest sold ticket count was logged in San Francisco at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium on May 5 and 6. He moved 17,482 tickets during the two-show stint, one of four two-night engagements on the schedule. Vancouver hosted the largest crowd on a single night of the tour with 13,470 in attendance on May 2 at Rogers Arena.

Khalid took a brief break from the road on May 20 to attend the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas where he won the trophy for Top New Artist. The Georgia native won acclaim with the release of his debut album American Teen in March of 2017.

Next on his tour schedule is a slate of European festival appearances during July including Belgium’s Rock Werchter event on July 7 as well as the British Summer Time festival at London’s Hyde Park on July 14.
