It also notches the largest streaming week ever for a Latin album by an artist.
J Balvin earns his second No. 1 on the Top Latin Albums chart (dated June 9) as his fifth studio album, Vibras, arrives at the summit. It starts with 22,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending May 31, according to Nielsen Music; the biggest week for any Latin album in 2018 in terms of units earned. Of its starting sum, 10,000 were in traditional album sales -- the second largest sales week of the year, trailing only the debut of CNCO's self-titled album (13,000; chart dated April 21).
The last Latin album to score a bigger week in overall units earned was Romeo Santos' Golden, which launched atop the Aug. 12, 2017-dated list with 35,000 units.
“I feel super blessed to have another album debut #1 with Vibras," Balvin tells Billboard. “I’m so grateful to my fans for always supporting me and for helping prove we can redefine mainstream by taking music in Spanish to new levels.”
