MAX's 'Lights Down Low,' Featuring gnash, Shines at No. 1 on Adult Pop Songs Chart
The song is each artist's first leader on the list.
The ballad is MAX's first Adult Pop Songs entry and gnash's second; the latter's "I Hate U I Love You," featuring Olivia O'Brien, reached No. 14 in December 2016.
The Adult Pop Songs chart measures total weekly plays, as tabulated by Nielsen Music, among its reporting panel of 85 adult top 40 stations.
MAX (born Maxwell Schneider) is the first solo male to take his first charted title on Adult Pop Songs to No. 1 since James Arthur, whose "Say You Won't Let Go" led the ranking dated June 3, 2017. MAX is the first act overall to send a first entry to No. 1 since Portugal. The Man, with "Feel It Still" (four weeks, beginning Oct. 28).
Also notably, "Lights" marks the 200th Adult Pop Songs No. 1 since the list launched in Billboard magazine in the issue dated March 16, 1996. Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men's "One Sweet Day" topped the first tally. Train's "If It's Love" became the chart's 100th No. 1, on Sept. 18, 2010.
"Lights" has hit a No. 20 high on the streaming-, airplay- and sales-based Billboard Hot 100. Highlights of the March 31-dated Hot 100's top 10 will be revealed later today and all charts will update tomorrow (March 27) on Billboard.com.
