He reaches the top three of the Social 50 for the first time since April 2016.

The prospect of new music on the horizon from Zayn sends him 17-3 on Billboard’s Social 50 chart dated March 10, his first time in the chart’s top three since April 2, 2016.

The Social 50 is powered by data tracked by music analytics company Next Big Sound and ranks the most popular artists on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Wikipedia and Tumblr. The chart's methodology blends weekly additions of friends/fans/followers along with artist page views and engagement. The chart’s latest tracking week ended March 1, and BTS is No. 1.

Zayn vaulted 185 percent in Instagram reactions to 25 million overall, according to Next Big Sound. On Instagram, he previewed unreleased material, often performed on acoustic guitar, as well as covers of Stevie Wonder, Paolo Nutini and more.

The progress on a follow-up full-length album, however, is not currently known.
