Silvestre Dangond Scores First No. 1 on Latin Airplay Chart With Nicky Jam Collaboration 'Casate Conmigo'
The song also hits No. 1 on Latin Rhythm Airplay.
Silvestre Dangond lands his first No. 1 on the Latin Airplay chart (dated Feb. 24) with “Cásate Conmigo,” with Nicky Jam. The romantic song — which translates to “Marry Me” — flies 9-1 in its 11th chart week and takes the tally’s Greatest Gainer honor.
“Cásate” reaches the top with 16.52 million in audience impressions in the week ending Feb. 18 (up 54 percent) according to Nielsen Music. The big bump in radio audience is owed to a surge in plays of the track around the Valentine’s Day holiday (Feb. 14), as well as Dangond’s radio promotion of his Caliente Tour USA 2018. The tour kicks off on July 20 in Houston.
“Don’t ask me how I did it. I just want to thank my buddy, Nicky Jam, who never doubted after listening to just 3 bars of the song,” Dangond tells Billboard. “I want to thank my whole team, as well as Sony Music Latin and Sony Music Colombia. Also, acknowledge all the Latinos who live in this country who have made my name more visible within the Anglo market. Welcome all to #Silvestrismo!”
“Cásate” is only Dangond’s second entry on the Latin Airplay chart, following “Ya No Me Duele Mas,” featuring Farruko, which reached No. 13 in 2017. For Nicky Jam, “Cásate” is his seventh leader. He last hit the top in his featured role on Shakira’s “Perro Fiel,” which spent four weeks at No. 1 (Dec. 23, 2017-Jan. 6, 2018).
On the Tropical Airplay chart, “Cásate” holds at No. 1 for a fifth week, and on Latin Rhythm Airplay (where the track is Dangond’s first entry on the list), it climbs 7-1. On Latin Pop Airplay, the track rises 9-2 (up 48 percent in plays).
On the overall Hot Latin Songs chart, which combines airplay, sales and streams, the song rises 21-17 — Dangond’s first top 20 hit.
