At No. 1, Justin Bieber guests on “Despacito” (returning to No. 1 for a 36th nonconsecutive week atop the list); at No. 2, Beyoncé features on J Balvin and Willy William’s “Mi Gente”; at No. 4, Demi Lovato is Fonsi’s duet partner on “Echame La Culpa”; and at No. 5, rappers Nicki Minaj and 21 Savage join Farruko, Bad Bunny and Rvssian on “Krippy Kush.”
The latest Hot Latin Songs chart’s top five builds off the Dec. 23, 2017-dated chart, when Beyoncé, Bieber, Lovato and Minaj/21 Savage ranked at Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 5; while honorable-mention Becky G placed at No. 4 with “Mayores” featuring Bad Bunny. Notably, Becky G used to be known primarily for her English-language pop songs, like "Shower," but in 2017, she transitioned to become a more core Latin pop-focused artist.
After a 12-week absence from No. 1, “Despacito” is back atop the Hot Latin Songs chart in the song’s 50th charting frame. The track increases in all metrics: up 6 percent in streams to 16.5 million, 84 percent in downloads to 20,000 downloads sold, and 11 percent in audience impressions to 21 million in the week ending Dec. 31. The song gains thanks, in part, to year-end countdowns and retrospectives in the media that highlighted “Despacito” (along with many other big hits of the past year).
With a 36th week at No. 1, “Despacito” closes in on the all-time weeks-at-No. 1 record, held by Enrique Iglesias' "Bailando," featuring Descemer Bueno and Gente de Zona, with 41 weeks. "Despacito" became just the third song to spend at least 30 weeks at No. 1 on Hot Latin Songs in August, as Nicky Jam and Iglesias' "El Perdon" ruled for exactly 30 weeks beginning in March 2015.
Lastly, regional Mexican band Alta Consigna scores its first Latin Airplay top 10 hit with “No Te Pido Mucho” as the song jumps 14-10 in its 10th week. The track earned 9.6 million in audience (up 14 percent).
The song concurrently holds in the top 10 on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart for a fifth week as the tune moves 4-3 in its 15th frame. This is the act’s third title to chart and their first to reach the top 10.
