Ed Sheeran performs at Z100's iHeartRadio Jingle Ball at Madison Square Garden on Dec. 8, 2017 in New York City.

Ed Sheeran starts the New Year in much the same way he cruised through 2017…in total control of Australia’s charts.

The British singer and songwriter dominates the ARIA Singles Chart with “Perfect” (Warner) claiming a fourth week at No. 1, the song also bags the Streaming Singles title, and his album Divide conquers the ARIA Albums Chart for a 22nd non-consecutive frame at the top. Divide, which is six-times platinum certified in these parts, rises 3-1 on the chart published Dec. 31, as Pink’s Beautiful Trauma (RCA/Sony) holds at No. 2 and Eminem’s latest Revival (Interscope/Universal) drops 1-3. Michael Buble’s double diamond certified (1 million copies) holiday classic Christmas (Reprise/Warner) is unchanged at No. 4 while Taylor Swift’s Reputation (Big Machine/Universal) completes the top 5.

Sheeran’s sizzling start shouldn’t cool off anytime soon. The artist will be in the country this March and April for a stadium tour which is shaping as a box office monster. Sheeran’s previous two albums enjoy gains on the latest survey with Multiply up 25-19 and Plus improving 33-27.

The highest new entry this week -- and only new arrival to crack the top 50 of the singles or albums tallies -- comes from the original soundtrack to The Greatest Showman (Atlantic/Warner), which stars homegrown actor and entertainer Hugh Jackman.

Sheeran’s perfect start to 2018 comes after the singer dropped a third iteration of “Perfect,” with Andrea Bocelli, in the lead up to Christmas. It’s ahead of Camila Cabello’sHavana” featuring Young Thug (up 3-2 via Epic/Sony), Eminem’s “River” featuring Ed Sheeran (down 2-3 via ) and a pair of Post Malone tracks, "Rockstar" featuring 21 Savage (up 5-4 via Republic/Universal) and “I Fall Apart” (down 4-5 via Universal).
