Louis Tomlinson performs during the 2017 iHeartRadio Music Festival at T-Mobile Arena on Sept. 23, 2017 in Las Vegas.

Plus, LANCO returns to No. 1 and Brooke Simpson from "The Voice" debuts at No. 5.

One Direction member Louis Tomlinson vaults 24-2 on Billboard's Emerging Artist chart (dated Dec. 23), matching his Sept. 9 peak.

Sparking the surge: the release of his fourth solo track "Miss You." The song drew 1.8 million streams and sold 19,000 downloads in its opening week, according to Nielsen Music, and enters Digital Song Sales at No. 15.

The Emerging Artists chart uses the same formula as the all-encompassing Billboard Artist 100, which measures activity across multiple Billboard charts, including the Billboard Hot 100, Billboard 200 and the Social 50. However, the Emerging Artists chart excludes acts that have notched a top 25 entry on either the Hot 100 or Billboard 200, as well as artists that have achieved two or more top 10s on Billboard's "Hot" song genre charts and/or consumption-based "Top" album genre rankings.

LANCO returns to No. 1 on Emerging Artists, after a week at No. 2 while NBC's The Voice contestant Chloe Kohanski ruled thanks to sales of her cover of Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart." LANCO's breakthrough hit "Greatest Love Story," which holds at No. 2 after a week atop Hot Country Songs (Dec. 9), rises 7 percent to 5 million U.S. streams and 3 percent to 13,000 sold.

Brooke Simpson earns the week's highest debut on Emerging Artists as the fellow contestant on The Voice arrives at No. 5, fueled by her cover of "Amazing Grace." The hymn debuts at No. 1 on the Hot Christian Songs chart and No. 9 on the Digital Song Sales chart with 25,000 downloads sold. This marks the first week that Simpson has appeared on any Billboard chart.

Rounding out the Emerging Artists chart's top five, Kohanski dips to No. 3 and rising country artist Russell Dickerson holds at No. 4.
