Final box-office counts have been reported for New Kids on the Block’s Total Package Tour, which wrapped last month after a nine-week run through 46 North American cities. Ticket sales from the Live Nation-produced trek surpassed the $40 million mark from more than half a million sold seats at 48 performances. The summertime jaunt lands in the second slot on the weekly tally of 10 top-grossing Hot Tours (see list below).

The tour launch coincided with the release of Thankful, the boy band’s EP that bowed on May 12; the opening concert was held on the same day in Columbus, Ohio. Joining the summer trek were Paula Abdul, returning to the road for the first time in 25 years, and Boyz II Men, who also provided support for New Kids on the Block’s original Package Tour four years ago.

The Total Package Tour was a career retrospective, heavy on the early hits along with music from the new EP. A highlight of the jaunt was a performance at Fenway Park in the band’s hometown of Boston. The July 8 event drew 34,519 fans to the historic stadium, racking up more than $2.8 million in sales. The top-grossing arena during the trek was Allstate Arena in the Chicago market. With a total of 22,332 fans present for concerts on June 15 and 16, the box office take was just under $1.8 million.

A single amphitheater show and a club date – both in Southern California - were also included on the Total Package Tour schedule. The band played the Hollywood Bowl early in June for a crowd of more than 17,000 fans, grossing $1.5 million. The sole club performance was held on May 27 at Anaheim’s House of Blues. The sold-out event was part of the recently relocated venue’s 25th-anniversary celebration.

The tour’s final concert was on July 16 at the 5,500-seat Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla. The sold-out show drew 5,385 fans.
