The group leaps 431 percent in YouTube reactions (553,000) and 651 percent in YouTube subscribers (adding 301,000) in the tracking week, according to Next Big Sound. Blackpink also attains 6.6 million Instagram reactions, a 98 percent bump, with many posts promoting the release of the song as well as showcasing behind-the-scenes photos and clips.
“Last” also bows at No. 1 on the World Digital Song Sales chart, selling 4,000 downloads in the week ending June 22, according to Nielsen Music – the group’s third No. 1.
Bieber’s Back at No. 1: Higher up on the Social 50, Justin Bieber returns to No. 1 for a chart-leading 162nd week (and for the first time since the Social 50 dated April 1). Bieber ascends 5-1 with a sizable boost in Instagram reactions, leaping 153 percent to 46.7 million in all, while also adding 394,000 new Twitter followers.
Bieber has been embracing a more wholesome, drama-free lifestyle on his social media accounts, evidenced no more noticeably than by uploading the exact same photo of a tranquil-looking beach with the words “Its a new day, its a fresh start” twice in the tracking week (and a third time just outside it on June 24). Along the way, Bieber also uploaded a photo of his mugshot from his arrest for driving under the influence in Miami Beach, Florida, in 2014, adding the hashtags #jailsnotacoolplacetobe, #notfun and #neveragain.
Wedding Bells Prompt Drake Bell’s Debut: Finally, Drake Bell appears on the Social 50 for the first time, debuting at No. 38, but it’s not necessarily via happy circumstances. The former star of Nickelodeon’s Drake & Josh and current singer-songwriter/actor was in the news after tweeting about Drake & Josh co-star Josh Peck’s June 17 wedding in Malibu, California, to which Bell was apparently not invited.
In a since-deleted tweet, Bell wrote on Twitter June 18, “When you’re not invited to the wedding the message is clear….” while adding in a later, also-removed tweet, “True colors have come out today. Message is loud and clear. Ties are officially cut. I’ll miss you brotha.”
The renewed attention helped Bell attain 123,000 new Twitter followers in the tracking week, as well as a similar amount -- 121,000 -- of new Instagram followers.
