Paramore's new single "Hard Times," the first single from the alt/pop band's upcoming fifth studio album, hit No. 1 on the Billboard + Twitter Trending 140 chart Wednesday morning (April 19). The song marks the return of the group, whose last Billboard Hot 100 hit, "Ain't It Fun," became its first top 10 hit on the chart in 2014.

The Billboard + Twitter Trending 140 chart measures the real-time acceleration of conversation around artists and their music on Twitter.

The new single first appeared on the Trending 140 around 10:30 a.m. ET Wednesday, shortly after its release. The band, led by Hayley Williams, also released a music video for the single, which has garnered 500,000 global views on YouTube since its release.

"Hard Times" is set to appear on Paramore's album After Laughter, due May 12. The group's previous self-titled set debuted as its first No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in 2013.
