The lead single from the band's upcoming ninth album is Spoon's second leader on the chart.

Spoon scoops up its second No. 1 on Billboard's Adult Alternative Songs airplay chart with "Hot Thoughts," which rises 2-1 on the tally dated March 18.

"Hot Thoughts," the lead single and title cut from the Texas rock band's ninth album, due March 17 (the act is currently promoting the LP on tour), reaches the top spot in its seventh week on the chart, completing the quickest rise to No. 1 for a song on the Adult Alternative Songs chart. It's the fastest ascent to the summit since Kings of Leon's "Waste a Moment" needed just four weeks, reaching No. 1 on Oct. 22, 2016.

Spoon's second Adult Alternative Songs leader follows "Do You," which reigned for three weeks in late 2014. The band's chart history dates back nearly a decade, starting with "The Underdog," which reached No. 3 in November 2007.

"Thoughts" has also found a home on Alternative Songs, having peaked at No. 32. On the all-rock-encompassing Rock Airplay chart, it bullets at No. 46 with 1.5 million audience impressions in the week ending March 5, according to Nielsen Music.
