The set also launches atop Alternative Albums, while nine of its tracks hit Hot Rock Songs. Plus, Alex Da Kid reaches the Hot Rock Songs top 10.
The xx lands atop Billboard's Top Rock Albums chart for the first time as I See You debuts at No. 1 (on the Feb. 4-dated tally) with 36,000 copies sold in the week ending Jan. 19, according to Nielsen Music. The band previously charted as high as No. 4 on Top Rock Albums with 2012's Coexist (which moved 73,000 in its first week).
I See You also opens atop the Alternative Albums chart, where it's The xx's second No. 1, following Coexist.
On the all-format, consumption-based Billboard 200, I See You starts at No. 2 (with 46,000 equivalent album units), again a new best rank for the act, besting the No. 5 bow and peak of Coexist. Among all genres, the new set is the week's top-selling album of the week, as it bows at No. 1 on Top Album Sales, the first time the band has earned the honor.
