"Maranatha! Music: Top 25 Praise Songs, 2017 Edition" crowns Top Christian Albums, while "Gospel Pioneer Reunion" leads Top Gospel Albums.

The new installation from Maranatha! Music, the double-disc Maranatha! Music: Top 25 Praise Songs, 2017 Edition, leaps 6-1 on Billboard's Top Christian Albums chart (dated Jan. 21). In its second chart frame, it shows a hike of 17 percent to 5,000 copies sold in the week ending Jan. 5, according to Nielsen Music.

Maranatha! Music, founded as the musical ministry of Calvary Chapel in 1971, primarily features music sung in churches around the world. The new LP includes worship tracks such as "Lord, I Lift Your Name on High" (from artist Aaron Gayden), "I Exalt Thee" (Todd Warren) and "Shout to the Lord" (Brandi Holbein).

In its rise to the Top Christian Albums summit, Maranatha! Music displaces WOW Hits 2017, which dips to No. 2 (4,000 sold, down 49 percent). The set has totaled three weeks at No. 1; it first topped the survey for the first time on the chart dated Oct. 29. The annual WOW releases have crowned Top Christian Albums for 14 of 15 years since 2003 (with the 2008 package having peaked at No. 2).

Meanwhile, on Top Gospel Albums, following its first week in wide release (and sixth overall), Gospel Pioneer Reunion re-enters at No. 1, surging 823 percent to 1,000 copies sold. The 20-song set, recorded for the Gaither Music Group, includes gospel icons, among others, Richard Smallwood, Albertina Walker, Jennifer Holliday and Bobbie Mason.

Reunion, also available as a DVD, was recorded live and includes gospel trailblazers, and husband-wife team, Bill and Gloria Gaither sharing their stories.
