'Juju on That Beat' Jumps Into Top 3 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Chart
Plus, D.R.A.M.'s "Broccoli" keeps thriving at radio, hitting No. 1 on three different charts.
Zay Hilfigerrr and Zayion McCall’s viral smash “Juju on That Beat” skyrockets 36-3 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart (dated Oct. 29) after its viral success led to Hilfigerrr and McCall’s signing to Atlantic Records and an official “Juju” release to digital retailers and audio streaming services on Sept. 30.
The song roars to a No. 3 re-entry on R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs, leaping to 16.7 million U.S. streams for the week ending Oct. 13, according to Nielsen Music, and also holds at No. 3 on R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Songs Sales, up 33 percent to 41,000 digital downloads.
“Juju” previously reached a No. 18 high on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart entirely off its YouTube streaming activity before falling off the list for two weeks presumably as the label prepared a reissue.
As “Juju” ascends, it becomes the latest smash in a series of viral rap hits to succeed on the chart, following in the footsteps of tracks such as Silento’s “Watch Me,” which reached No. 2 in July 2015, and ILoveMemphis’ “Hit the Quan,” which climbed to No. 7 in October 2015.
‘Broccoli’ Keeps Growing: Plus, D.R.A.M’s “Broccoli,” featuring Lil Yachty, scores a hat trick, capturing the summit on three airplay surveys: R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay (7-1), Rap Airplay (2-1) and Rhythmic Songs (2-1). The track tops the former list thanks to an 8 percent gain to 23.2 million in audience, according to Nielsen Music, and crowns the latter pair with boosts of 4 and 7 percent, respectively.
The 7-1 “Broccoli” growth on R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay marks the biggest jump to No. 1 in more than five years, when Big Sean’s “Marvin & Chardonnay,” featuring Kanye West and Roscoe Dash, skipped 8-1 in October 2011.
“Brocoli” also remains at No. 1 on the Hot Rap Songs tally, clocking a sixth week at the summit.
