The rapper earns a top 10 debut, as does M.I.A. Plus, chart action from Ariana Grande & Zara Larsson.

Kanye West rockets to his 12th top 10 on Billboard + Twitter Top Tracks chart (dated Sept. 17) as “Fade” debuts at No. 6. The lofty arrival comes following the first full tracking week (Aug. 29-Sept. 4) after the rapper premiered the song’s music video during the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) on Aug. 28.

Billboard + Twitter Top Tracks is a weekly ranking of the most shared and/or mentioned songs on Twitter in the U.S., ranked by the volume of shares over a seven-day period (Monday to Sunday).

The clip -- set in a gym and starring a sultry Teyana Taylor, a signee to West’s G.O.O.D. Music label -- was a Tidal exclusive for one week. It then became widely available through YouTube on Sept. 6.

The video’s impact helps West pick up 64,000 Twitter mentions for the week ending Sept. 4, according to Next Big Sound, a gain of 13 percent. The social buzz in turn fuels the rapper’s 23-21 rise on the Social 50 chart. Taylor also benefits chart-wise from the exposure, picking up 33,000 Twitter mentions for the week, fueling a No. 34 debut on the Social 50.

At the top of the chart, Ariana Grande holds onto the No. 1 rank as “Side To Side,” featuring Nicki Minaj, leads for a second frame. The cut, from the singer’s Dangerous Woman album, sustains its rank after the song’s official music video dropped after Grande and Minaj performed the track live during the VMAs.

The “Side” performance and video help Grande gather 377,000 Twitter mentions for the week, helping the singer maintain her No. 1 perch on the Social 50 chart. Minaj, meanwhile, picks up 179,000 mentions, a gain of 13 percent. The surge also helps the rapper rally 29-4 on the Social 50 chart. Also helping Minaj’s big social gain: The singer released a new track, “The Pinkprint Freestyle” online on Soundcloud on Sept. 4.

Meanwhile, M.I.A. scores her first top 10 with a No. 4 start for “Freedun,” featuring Zayn. The track gives the former One Direction member his seventh top 10 on the Top Tracks chart.

The single was released on Sept. 2, and its official audio clip has pulled more than 573,000 global plays on YouTube through Sept. 6. “Freedun” features on M.I.A.’s fifth studio album, A.I.M., released Sept. 9.

Plus, Zara Larsson collects her best debut as a lead act as “Ain’t My Fault” opens at No. 24. Among her four charted titles, only “This One’s For You,” her collaboration with David Guetta on which Larsson featured, started higher, at No. 18.

“Fault” continues her breakout 2016 -- in addition to “You,” Larsson hit the chart with her maiden release “Lush Life” (No. 35) and “Never Forget You” with MNEK (No. 32). The arrival of “Fault” also helps Larsson rise to 42,000 Twitter mentions for the week, up 155 percent.
