The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The July 23-dated chart, on which California could soar in at No. 1, is scheduled to have its top 10 revealed on Billboard's platforms Sunday (July 10).
If California debuts at the Billboard 200's summit, Blink-182 will notch its second No. 1 on the ranking, and first in more than 15 years -- Take Off Your Pants and Jacket led the June 30, 2001, list. The band has scored six total top 10s on the chart, with 2011's No. 2-peaking Neighborhoods its most recent. Blink-182 has already ended another chart-topping drought with the first single from California: "Bored to Death" spends its second week at No. 1 on the Alternative Songs airplay chart, where it's the band's first leader in more than 12 years, since 2004's "I Miss You."

Also on target for a potential top 10 debut on the July 23 Billboard 200 is Maxwell's blackSUMMERS'night. The R&B crooner arrived atop the chart with his last entry nearly seven years ago, when BLACKsummers'night bounded in (with 316,000 sold), marking his second No. 1; his entry before that, Now, bowed on top in 2001. "Lake by the Ocean," the lead single from Maxwell's new set, spends a fifth week at No. 1 on Billboard's Adult R&B Songs airplay chart.
