Flume's 'Skin' Scores Best Sales Week of 2016 on Top Dance/Electronic Albums
Plus, Calvin Harris & Rihanna crown Dance/Mix Show Airplay and Cheat Codes x Kris Kross Amsterdam's "Sex" is selling.
Flume flies in at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart (dated June 18) with his second album, Skin. Its 18,000 sold, according to Nielsen Music, are the most on the chart in a week for a title in 2016, besting the 17,000 that Kygo's Cloud Nine sold in its first frame (June 4).
The Australian downtempo DJ also boasts five tracks on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, led by "Never Be Like You" (featuring Kai) at No. 5; the top Streaming Gainer drew 6.8 million U.S. streams in the tracking week, up 17 percent. It also sold 16,000 downloads (and has sold 204,000 since its release). Flume also fields a re-entry at No. 18 with "Smoke & Retribution," featuring Vince Staples and Kucka. The track, which first peaked at No. 19 on Feb. 20, amassed 768,000 domestic streams, up 195 percent. Further down the list, Flume debuts with three more Skin songs: "Wall F**k" (No. 29), "Lose It," featuring Vic Mensa (No. 30), and "Tiny Cities," featuring Beck (No. 31). Not surprisingly, the latter is the first appearance on any Billboard dance chart for the alt-rock luminary.
Flume (real name: Harley Streten) reached No. 12 on Top Dance/Electronic Albums in 2014 with his self-titled debut.
Shifting to Dance/Mix Show Airplay, Rihanna and Calvin Harris pad their leads as the acts with the most and second-most No. 1s in the chart's 13-year history, as "This Is What You Came For" (by Harris featuring Rihanna) rises 2-1. Rihanna earns her 12th leader and Harris, his 10th. David Guetta and Madonna follow with seven No. 1s each. Rihanna, whose last leader was four years ago, with "Where Have You Been," also shares the lead for the most top 10s in the chart's history with Guetta: 22 apiece.
Coming back to Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, Cheat Codes x Kris Kross Amsterdam earn top Digital Gainer honors with "Sex," which holds at No. 11. Although it's been charting since its March 19 debut, the track became available for purchase in the iTunes Store May 26 and debuts at No. 26 on Dance/Electronic Digital Songs (2,000 sold). The single places at No. 12 on Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs (3.2 million U.S. clicks) and starts at No. 37 on Dance/Mix Show Airplay.
