Drake Scores Double No. 1s Again on U.K. Charts With 'Views' and 'One Dance'
As his “One Dance” (Cash Money/ Republic/Universal) single, featuring Wizkid & Kyla, starts a sixth week at the singles summit, Official Charts Company data shows his Views album rebounding 4-1. It outdid Beyonce’s Lemonade (Columbia), which moves 3-2, by some 800 combined chart sales to take the crown for a second time.
Norwegian DJ and producer Kygo landed the highest new entry on the album chart, as his debut album, Cloud Nine (Epic/Sony), went straight to No. 3. A week after debuting at No. 1, Radiohead's new A Moon Shaped Pool (XL Recordings) fell to No. 4. Meghan Trainor's second major label album, Thank You (RCA/Sony), arrived at No. 5.
There was a No. 14 entry for English singer-songwriter Corinne Bailey Rae's third album, The Heart Speaks in Whispers (Virgin EMI/Universal), while San Diego rockers Pierce the Veil came in at No. 17 with their fourth set, Misadventures (Fearless). Drake notched another 105,000 chart sales, including 7.5 million streams, to continue at the top with “One Dance.” The track is now the U.K.'s longest-running No. 1 single since Mark Ronson's “Uptown Funk” in 2014-15. Justin Timberlake's “Can't Stop the Feeling” (RCA/Sony), which had led the singles list earlier in the sales week, ended with a 3-2 climb and 99,000 sales.
“This Is What You Came For” (Columbia/Sony) by Calvin Harris and Rihanna fell 2-3 on the new chart, while Sia's "Cheap Thrills” (Monkey Puzzle/RCA/Sony) and Mike Posner's "I Took a Pill in Ibiza" (Universal Island) held steady at Nos. 4 and 5, respectively. That's an eighth consecutive week in the top five for Sia and 11th for Posner.
“Panda,” by Desiigner (Def Jam/Universal) climbed 12-7 for a first top 10 showing in its seventh week, while Drake's Views album track “Too Good,” featuring Rihanna, raced 23-8. The reunited Stone Roses returned at No. 17 with “All For One” (EMI/Universal), giving the band a 14th top 40 hit more than 17 years after a reissue of “Fools Gold” became their 13th.
