The DJs discuss their triumph with "Higher Place," featuring R&B star Ne-Yo.

Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, aka, Belgian brothers Dimitri and Michael Thivaios, tally their first No. 1 on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs chart (dated Jan. 16) with "Higher Place." The song reaches the ranking's highest place with a 3-1 jump.

The coronation marks the fourth leader for featured vocalist Ne-Yo. Remixes from Afrojack, Bassjackers and Andrew Rayel, among others, helped fuel the song’s ascent.

Upon achieving their first leader on the list, Dimitri Vegas discussed the feat with Billboard.

How did the song come about?

We had a demo that Mike recorded by the pool in Ibiza with a hangover last summer. When we were chillin' with Ne-Yo in the studio last February, he heard the track and immediately wanted to do his magic on it. It's a combination of complementary sounds and vocal stylings.

How does it feel to have your first Billboard Dance Club Songs No. 1 with your first charted song?

Amazing. Getting a Billboard No. 1 is something we always dreamed of. It comes within six months of being named No. 1 on DJ Mag, so, life is moving in a great direction. It's an incredible way to start off 2016.

What's it like working together as brothers?

It's great. You can always be 100 percent honest and direct. And, we balance each other out very well.

How did collaborating with Ne-Yo originate, and how was it working with him?

We ended up in his studio during one of our stays in Los Angeles. It was amazing to see him work. He nailed his vocals in no time... like a magician.
